Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Benefits - What are EF's advantages?

A. For the open-flame applications, such as glass and pottery manufacturing; our lab and field test results indicate an average of 9% fuel savings when using EF treated fuel gases. However, the optimum combustion at different applications may be affected by many factors; it would be reasonably to expect the fuel savings with EF in the range of 5% - 20%.

Q. Benefits - Is there any other advantages besides the fuel saving when using EF?

A. Yes. Such as no special carrier tanks are needed, reduced storage area, no dip tubes, no circulating pumps in bulk storage tanks, no scales and no residual is left in the tank. Factory overhead cost is reduced due to the increased efficiency when using EF.

Q. Benefits - How would EF treated fuel gases burn cleaner and therefore preserve our environment better?

A. EF helps to achieve more complete combustion of the fuel gases and therefore reduces the generation of hazardous exhausted gases such as VOC's, CO, and NOx, etc. Please refer Combustion and Radiant Containment for more details.

Q. Benefits - What will be the effect of the emission cap or credits by using EF treated fuel gases? and why?

A. It is expected that the restrictions on industrial air emissions will be tightened significantly over the foreseeable future. Government regulators in California and New York have already begun to impose very strict regulations on the harmful emissions of many industrial processes. Should an emissions trading market develop (in which, basically, industrial companies are allowed a certain level of emissions 'credits', which may be sold if they emit fewer harmful products than they are allowed), the cost of financing EF additives and the associated blending equipment may be offset by the revenue that may be brought in through the trading of surplus emissions credits.

EF helps to achieve more complete combustion of the fuel gases and therefore reduces both the fuel gas consumption and the greenhouse gases emissions, such as CO2, CO, CH4 and other hydrocarbons, etc.

Q. Disadvantages - What are the disadvantages of EF?

A. EF is designed for open-flame combustion only. EF is not to be used for oxy-flame applications in metal working industries due to the safety concern. See Special Notices - Use EF Fuel Additive Safely.

Q. Why does EF burn hotter and bring the saving of fuel cost?

A. EF increases the open flame temperature up to 200 degree K or 360 degree Fahrenheit. This temperature increase is accomplished due to our unique ability to absorb radiance into the flame front, causing the internal flame temperature to be raised up. Note: The radiant heat increases with temperature to the fourth power. Click here for more details.

Q. Guarantee - Is EF guaranteed?

A. Yes, a 100% guarantee. Each formulation of EF is tested to conform to our own strict quality requirements. Please also refer our Warranty policy.

Q. Hotter Flame - What does hotter flame mean?

A. The hotter flame means complete oxidation and better heat transfer. This is made possible by a breakthrough enabling suppression of radiant energy, thereby causing higher temperature in the primary flame.

Q. Ingredients - What are EF's ingredients?

A. EF is a blend of liquid hydrocarbons. Please refer to the material safety data sheet for more information.

Q. Natural Gas - How can EF be used with natural gas or propane vapor?

A. A blending system treats the natural or propane gas vapor as it flows through the pipe distribution system. EnviroFlame Industries provides the technical support and detailed instructions for the blending system. Please also refer How to Treat Fuel Gases with EF

Q. Primary Use - What are the primary uses for EF?

A. General heating, cooking, boiler, kiln, power plants, etc.

Q. Safety - How safe is EF?

A. EF treated fuel gases are extremely stable. Full tank pressure can be used if needed. Please also refer the SDS of EF Fuel Additive.

Q. Tanks - What type of tanks are required?

A. Propane tanks for propane based EF or propylene for propylene based EF. The product can also be used for bulk tank systems.

Q. Temperature - Does cold weather affect the performance of EF?

A. No, EF remains completely homogeneous under any temperature. It does not stratify or separate as other additives can.

Q. Treatment - How much EF do I use?

A. In general, one ounce of EF treats ten gallons of propane or propylene. Please see sheet on natural gas for mixture ratio. Also, consult with your local dealer or agent.

Q. Withdrawal - Does heavy withdrawal affect the performance of EF?

A. No, but heavy withdrawal may affect the required flow of fuel gas from its container.
